3-Day Weekend

Now that I'm working I think I will treasure
the 3-Day Weekend!
Lincoln mostly planned this little adventure trip.
He had heard that in Lancaster, PA
there was a show we needed to see.
I'd heard how neat Lancaster could be with it's gift shops
and Amish culture so that is where we decided to spend our holiday.
We headed out Saturday morning and made it to Lancaster
in time to see a matinee of the biblical show "Joseph."
It was fun to have seen "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Coat"
this year and be able to compare them.
Same story.
Different music.
Both very nice productions!

The lamb and the lion shall lie down together . . . . . .

Sampson . . .  . .
each year this theater has a new biblical theater production.

A Selfie . . . .

After the show we stopped in to a little café that boasted
"Authentic Amish Food."
This is homemade peanut butter and rolls.
The peanut butter tasted like peanut/honey butter.
Yummy!

I had meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy with
a side of warm stewed tomatoes.
As a girl I used to open up a quart of my mom's stewed
tomatoes, warm them up and eat them.
I think mom's are better . . . . . these were sweet, but yummy!
I think they were a main ingredient in the meatloaf also.

Lincoln had "Chicken Cordon Bleu"
A difference in this Cordon Bleu is that it had a layer of stuffing!
He also had applesauce and carrots.

This was at the front of the little café.

We took a tour of an Amish home
and learned a lot of interesting things we didn't know.
One of the things we learned is that they take modern appliances and remake them.
They use air pressure to power some of the appliances.
They use natural gas for some, propane and other gases
 and solar to charge batteries.
Anything accept to hook themselves to the world with an electrical line.
Our tour guide called these "compromises" to their way of life.

On Sunday, the roads were full of Amish buggies.
I think they said there are 30,000 Amish people living in the
Lancaster area.  They take advantage of the tourism to make money!

On the next day, Lincoln and I went to a "FlavorFest."
We got to taste a lot of different things.
The main event was wine tasting.
Those places were packed with people.
We traveled the road less traveled and sampled food!

I have never seen Llamas cut this way before!
Poodle Style!  They were so cute.
This one in the front was even wearing sunglasses!

We bought some Shoo-fly Pie to taste.
It was for sale everywhere!
It's main taste is molasses.
The topping was very fine, and very sweet.
If you like molasses you'd like the pie.

We stayed at a bed and breakfast.
The house was built in the 1920's.
I love old houses and so it was fun to explore the house.
We stayed in the attic region, above these windows.
It was kind of awkward up there but fun!

All in all it was a very nice weekend!
